VitaminM(Sea)³ is a hazy Triple IPA brewed by Equilibrium Brewery and Vitamin Sea Brewing from Queens and Weymouth, respectively. This beer was brewed with a base of oats and wheat together with a lot of Citra, Mosaic, Wakatu, and Galaxy hops. Reviewed last May 2022.
STYLE GUIDELINES
This beer is being evaluated as a Mixed-Style Beer (34B) with the Hazy IPA (21C) (but brewed to “Triple” strength) as the base style, in the context of the 2021 Beer Style Guidelines of the Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP). The most current version can be found on the BJCP website.
As of this writing, the “Triple IPA” is not an official and explicit style in the BJCP; thus, these beers still lack a comprehensive set of style guidelines. For the hazy and juicy variants, these Triple IPAs could simply be bigger-than-double versions of a Hazy IPA with an ABV of around 10%.
TASTING NOTES
Poured a hazy straw beer with a fairly high and refreshing aroma of cantaloupe, and lime, with some dank quality—Medium-full-bodied; moderately-low carbonation that enhanced the smooth and soft mouthfeel. Flavor unleashed intense cantaloupe backed by moderate zesty lime and half-ripe mango; medium-low oaty malt. Medium-low bitterness and sweetness. Finished lingered long with zesty lime and cantaloupe.
THE VERDICT
VitaminM(Sea)³ is one excellent Triple IPA. Aromas and flavors were bursting all throughout mainly of cantaloupe and dank qualities; almost no trace of alcohol even if this is a 10% ABV beer. Oat-like backbone complemented the hop profile and gave this beer a soothing impression. This is easily one of the top-tier Triple Hazy IPAs we have tried.
