STYLE GUIDELINES

This beer is being evaluated as a Mixed-Fermentation Sour Beer (26B) with the Saison (25B) as the base style in the context of the 2015 Beer Style Guidelines of the Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP). The most current version of the guidelines can be found on the BJCP website.

TASTING NOTES

Clear straw with a foamy white head. White grapes and guava compose primarily the aroma profile. Strawberry and mango accents add to the mix. Others noted further scents of white wine and pears. Medium-bodied and very effervescent. First to surface are pleasing tart fruit flavors: green apple juice, lemon, dehydrated orange slices. White grapes/ Sauvignon Blanc and bitter fruit peel follow; oaky, woody characters add complexity. Les Amis du Brassage leaves the palate oily with a lemon peel impression.

THE VERDICT

Reviewing this beer once again felt like writing a grocery list. For us, Les Amis du Brassage showcases subtle citrus fruit tartness with complementing woody and oaky characters in a very refreshing and drinkable fashion. Excellent.
