STYLE GUIDELINES

This beer is being evaluated as an American Pale Ale (18B) in the context of the 2015 Beer Style Guidelines of the Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP). The most current version of the guidelines can be found on the BJCP website. Note that, as of this writing, the Specialty IPA: New England IPA is currently a provisional style, but the pale ale version does not yet have its explicit set of style guidelines. As the American Pale Ale is to the American IPA, the New England Pale Ale is expected to have a lower ABV among others relative to the standard NEIPA.

TASTING NOTES

Forever Wanting Togetherness pours an irresistible appearance akin to mango puree. This beer charms with its coquettish reveal of indistinct tropical, citrus, and fermented fruit aromas. The palate then unveils a more distinct embodiment of the fruit aromas in the form of luscious sweet mangoes together with a milk-like impression. Light-medium body. Lastly, a satisfyingly clean finish characterized by gentle cream-like and floral tones leaves the drinker craving for more.

THE VERDICT

Just because this “DDH Pale Ale” has an ABV of 4.5%– more so a single-hopped one– it does not mean we could expect less in terms of the aromas and flavors from this one. In fact, with Forever Wanting Togetherness, Cloudwater and WhiteFrontier demonstrated that a session-strength NEIPA can just be as flavorful and aromatic as a standard NEIPA.
