TASTING NOTES
Hazy straw color; thick white head with excellent retention. Intense, fragrant scents of ripe peach and cantaloupe dominated the aroma with a low-bready character being more notable as the beer settled. Medium in body and carbonation level. A trio of ripe peach, cantaloupe, and pineapple were the most dominant flavors–and with the background notes of fruity/ester-like bubble gum– gave this beer a very juicy character. Malt manifested as moderately bready, while both perceived bitterness and residual sweetness were noted at fairly low levels. Track and Field finished with a minty herbal undertone and some hop bitterness.
THE VERDICT
Track and Field by Curriculum Brewing is a hazy IPA that features primarily fruity aromas and flavors. The balance between the perceived bitterness and sweetness was something that caught our attention on top of the delicate aroma this beer had to offer. Its juice-like appeal makes it a very approachable and drinkable beer. Marketed as a “Hazy IPA” and benchmarked as a New England IPA, Track and Field, in our opinion, is an excellent take on the style.
