HideOut Craft Brewery reboots its flagship DDH recipe with Hopman 2020.
In 2018, the Cubao-based brewery released its first big batch Specialty IPA, Enter Hopman. This kicked off a series of hop-centric beers in 2019 such as the Hallucination “Milkshake” IPA, Infinity Hops + One, and The Mandarinian among others. HideOut head brewer, Tatz Ang continues this series in 2020 with a brand new recipe, Hopman 2020. Unlike his previous releases, this beer will be available year-round.
STYLE GUIDELINES
This beer is being evaluated as a Specialty IPA: New England IPA (21B) in the context of the provisional guidelines of the Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP) for the said beer style. The most current version of the guidelines can be found on the BJCP website.

TASTING NOTES
Hopman 2020 looks like mango juice in the glass. The hops from the United States and New Zealand contribute light mango, lychees, rambutan, and apple notes to the aroma profile. Slight alcohol notes were detected.
This beer has a similar fruity flavor profile composed of unsweetened mangoes, slightly sour pineapples, and are backed secondarily by lychees and apples. Warmer, the palate opens with more biscuit and oats. The finish is described as dry, with indistinct tropical fruit nectar-like notes surfacing and is further characterized by pine hop bitterness.
THE VERDICT
This first batch of Hopman 2020 is a no-frills one. If you are looking for a go-to delicious craft beer available year-round, then this is the one you are looking for. Enjoy at a slightly warmer temperature.
