Rushing Out in the Rain is a mixed fermentation grisette brewed with Saaz, Mandarina hops, Riesling Grapes, and honey. STYLE GUIDELINES

This beer is being evaluated as a Wild Specialty Beer (28C) with the Saison (25B) as the base style in the context of the 2015 Beer Style Guidelines of the Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP). The most current version of the guidelines can be found on the BJCP website.

TASTING NOTES

Pale straw with fair clarity; medium-low white head. A soft touch of lemon zest, fermented fig, semi-ripe mango was noted on the nose with complementing hints of mineral, coriander, and lactic acid. Light-medium-bodied; moderately carbonated. Flavor: vibrant lemon peels melded with white grapes and rambutan against a malt backdrop of wheat and honey. A subtle mineral character added complexity, while delicate acidity gave this beer some spark. Very low to no perceived bitterness. As expected, this beer was very dry (no sweetness). Rushing Out in the Rain concluded with lemon zest and the mentioned mineral-like note.

THE VERDICT

Rushing Out in the Rain is a light, dry, and refreshing fruited farmhouse ale that highlighted zesty citrus, grapes, and delicate acidity. The acidity enhanced crucially both the grapes and the dryness of this beer. Also worth mentioning, the perceived mineral-like character is neither a positive nor negative trait, but it was interesting to note this quality in the two beers we have tried from Jiri so far (the first being Glowing Green).

Overall, we think this is an excellent beer brewed to be enjoyed casually and in good company on a bright summer day.
