TASTING NOTES
Hazy straw; white head with good retention. Fairly high aromas of ripe mango, passion fruit, with a blueberry accent were noted. Medium-full-bodied, moderate carbonation with a soft and almost creamy texture/mouthfeel. Ripe fruits (mango, guava, peach) were the most prominent flavors followed by a touch of resin. Malt backbone was medium-low, bready, and oaty. Medium perceived bitterness and residual sweetness. Aftertaste lingered with the fruity flavors mentioned.
THE VERDICT
Medusa is a flavorful New England IPA from The Marc’s & Tony Brewing Co. The infusion of nitrogen seemed to have contributed to the soft and almost creamy mouthfeel. Of the perceived hop characteristics, it was guava that really stood out. The balance between bitterness and sweetness felt appropriate. Overall, we think Medusa is an excellent take on the style and is another instant classic from maestro Tony himself.
