TASTING NOTES
Clear deep gold; white head with fair retention. The nose opened up with moderately high bergamot and lemon zest reminiscent of Earl Grey tea. Medium-bodied, moderate carbonation. The flavor was similar to the aroma as it unleashed fairly high impressions of zesty lemon, rambutan, and a hint of that bergamot peel. All these were noted against a moderately low toasty malt backdrop. The balance favored the bitterness at a moderately high level as sweetness remained low. The aftertaste lingered briefly with the citrus fruit peels noted.
THE VERDICT
Citrus IPA lives up to its name as citrus peels (may it be lemon, grapefruit, or bergamot) dominated both the aroma and flavor profile. This beer is a dry, very soothing, and refreshing IPA with well-integrated bitterness. Earl Grey tea drinkers might actually find the Bergamot-like qualities quite familiar. Overall, excellent.
