TASTING NOTES

Cascadian pours a clear pale amber beer with a cream white-colored head. Prominent grape- and lychee-like aromas define the nose, complemented by soft hints akin to citrus tangerines and strawberries.

This American IPA has both carbonation level and body a notch higher than medium. The perceived flavor balance is almost equal, with the hops higher than malts by a margin. Hop flavors are prominent of purple grapes, ripe apples, and some pine and sweet oranges. Meanwhile, malt characters seem to bring accents of raisins and caramel to the mix. The perceived bitterness is moderately low relative to other American IPAs. Cascadian leaves the palate slightly sticky with impressions akin to ripe apples and some caramel.

THE VERDICT

While we do not have tasting notes for the Two Hearted Ale to compare Cascadian with, we find this American IPA to be a rich and flavorful beer that showcases defined hop and malt aromas and flavors.

However, even if Cascadian has relatively less perceived bitterness compared to the other beers of this style, drinkability is still slightly low due to its medium-full body and elevated flavors. In other words, Cascadian is delicious but for others, it may not be the beer they would have several servings of in one sitting.
